proposed coal-fired power plant

"...A new organization based in Pamplico is making its voice heard in the discussion over the proposed Santee Cooper coal-fired power plant. The Pee Dee Supporters for Progress announced its formation Tuesday as an organization advocating for the proposed 600-megawatt coal-fired power plant to be located in Kingsburg on what’s being called the Pee Dee Energy Campus.Ricky Hardee, a local businessman and co-chairman of the group, said the group members want to make the opinions of the community known to everyone outside of the Pamplico area.“We wanted to give a voice to the local citizens here about our support of the Pee Dee Energy Campus coming to our community,” he said.Although Hardee grew up in Pamplico, he said, he moved away in 1979 only to return to his hometown a few years ago. And seeing his hometown grow has become an important issue for Hardee, along with many of the other members of the organization, leading to their support of the much-debated power plant...."
